Dermal Fillers are injected below the skin’s surface to provide more youthful contours and smoother skin. Dermal fillers can be used ‘plump up’ small areas such as the lips and around the brows and ‘re-volumise’ larger areas like the cheeks and jawline. They’re sometimes used in conjunction with anti-wrinkle injections, which relax facial muscles, or with other treatments that restore skin tone, to rejuvenate the whole face.

Dermal fillers produce instant results – a typical first procedure takes between 15 and 30 minutes – and you should be able to return to your daily activities right away. Dermal fillers are usually well tolerated and durable, lasting from 9 to 24 months, depending on the product used. We use dermal fillers that also contain an anaesthetic, which can reduce discomfort during injection.

Dermal fillers are a gel made from a natural complex sugar, that when injected into the dermis, gives volume to the skin. The filler helps to improve wrinkle lines and restore volume to areas affected by the ageing process or weight loss by attracting water to the area that it was injected. When combined with anti-wrinkle injections, they play a major role in rejuvenating and reshaping the face without having to undergo surgery.

How long they last will depend on how your body reacts, where they have been injected and the type of filler used, but most dermal fillers will last between six to 18 months. As a guide, more active areas, such as lips, will break down the product at a quicker rate, whereas less active areas, such as the cheeks, will last longer.

Dermal fillers can be used to treat the area under the eyes (tear troughs), mid face (cheeks), marionette lines, nasolabial folds, lower face (jawline) and also during lip enhancements, chin augmentation and non-surgical nose jobs.
